Summer 2023 Program Information

In our summer programs, students make deep connections with peers and caring adults while learning and growing in a fun, safe and engaging environment. 

  • Transportation: Bus transportation is available for students enrolled in summer programs. Transportation information will be provided to families eligible for this service at the time they receive other program details.
  • Meals: Free breakfast and lunch will be served.

Elementary and Middle School Programs

Our elementary and middle school summer programs are designed to support and empower students in academic and social emotional development through small class sizes, engaging instruction and enrichment activities. 

2023 program dates (There are no programs the week of July 4):

  • Week 1: June 20-22 (T-Th)
  • Week 2: June 26-29 (M-Th)
  • Week 3: July 10-13 (M-Th)
  • Week 4: July 17-20 (M-Th)

Elementary (students finishing grades K-4)

    Student hours: 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.
  • Location: Richfield STEM Elementary School
  • Eligibility: Our elementary program is designed to help students accelerate their learning in order to be grade-level ready. Families of students in grades K-4 who are recommended for this summer program will be notified and receive registration information during spring teacher conferences. 
  • Curriculum: Students will engage in math, language arts and social-emotional learning curriculum and activities.
  • Enrichment: Students can participate in art, gardening, sports, music and more, delivered in collaboration with D.E.L.O.R.E.S. Works.

Middle School (students finishing grades 5-7)

  • Student hours: 8:45 a.m.-1:20 p.m.
  • Location: Richfield Middle School
  • Eligibility: Our middle school program is designed to help students accelerate their learning in order to be grade-level ready. Families of students in grades 5-7 who are recommended for this summer program will be notified and receive registration information during spring teacher conferences. 
  • Curriculum: Students will experience a modified middle school schedule with math, literacy and STEM classes.
  • Enrichment: Students will engage in interest-based enrichment classes that are designed to spark their interests, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Enrichment programs are provided by middle school staff in partnership with Beacons. 

High School Programs

Our high school summer programs are designed to honor the brilliance each student possesses and channel their efforts toward skills and accomplishments needed for success at the high school level and beyond.  

Spartan Camp (students finishing 8th grade)

  • 2023 program dates (There are no programs the week of July 4):
    • Week 1: June 26-29 (M-Th)
    • Week 2: July 10-13 (M-Th)
    • Week 3: July 17-20 (M-Th)
  • Student hours: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Location: Richfield High School
  • Eligibility: Spartan Camp is designed as a bridging opportunity for students who will be attending Richfield High School as 9th graders in the fall. Families of students in grade 8 who are recommended for this summer program will be notified and receive registration information during spring teacher conferences. 
  • Curriculum: Students will experience a modified high school schedule and will become acquainted with the high school building and staff while developing the skills needed for success at the high school level. Classes include study strategies, navigating high school schedules and common issues new high school students face, and community building opportunities. Students may earn a .5 elective credit for participating in Spartan Camp.
  • Enrichment: Students will engage in interest-based enrichment classes that are designed to spark their interests, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Enrichment programs are provided by middle school staff in partnership with Beacons. 

Credit Recovery (students finishing grades 9-12)

  • 2023 program dates (There are no programs the week of July 4):
    • Week 1: June 20-22 (T-Th)
    • Week 2: June 26-29 (M-Th)
    • Week 3: July 10-13 (M-Th)
    • Week 4: July 17-20 (M-Th)
    • Week 5: July 24-27 (M-Th)
  • Student hours: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Location: Richfield High School
  • Eligibility: Current high school students needing to recover credits are referred to the program by their counselor. Students will work individually under the supervision and guidance of licensed teachers through online curriculum tailored to the credits they have missed. Students only attend for the length of time needed to recover their credits. This opportunity can help students to get back on track for graduation.

Newcomer Academy

Multilingual students identified for this program will enjoy a supportive place to learn and practice English language skills. This program runs concurrently with each grade level summer program listed above and follows the same schedule. Families of students who are recommended for this summer program will be notified and receive registration information during spring teacher conferences. 

Richfield Community Education

A variety of summer activities are planned for all ages: preschool, elementary, teen, family and adult. The districtwide community education catalog is delivered to all school district residents and available online for registration. Participation is open to anyone, regardless of the school they attend or where they live.

Beacons

The Richfield Beacons program provides free activities in partnership with our summer programs. The dates follow the summer program dates for each age level. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. If interest exceeds capacity, spots in the program will be allocated through a lottery system.

Programs include: Sports, Yoga, Financial Literacy, Cooking Club, STEAM activities, Literacy Fun, Games, Arts & Crafts, DIY Fun and more!

Elementary (students finishing grades K-4)

  • Programs are offered after school for students attending our summer programs. The Beacons registration is embedded in our summer registration form.
  • Location: Richfield STEM Elementary School

Middle School (students finishing grades 5-7)

  • Programs are offered during the school day for students attending summer programs at Richfield Middle School. Registration is combined with the summer registration form.
  • Location: Richfield Middle School

Incoming Freshmen (students finishing grade 8)

  • Welcome freshmen! You will attend the Beacons program during Spartan Camp. Registration is combined with the Spartan Camp registration.

Beacons summer camp!

Looking for a fun, three-week summer camp experience? Look no further! Beacons is offering a summer day camp July 27 - August 3 for students in grades K-8. If interest exceeds capacity, spots in the program will be allocated through a lottery system.

  • Meals: Lunch and snack are provided
