Planning Process Moves Online

Hello Richfield Community,

Due to the shelter in place order and the ban on large gatherings, we have moved the next phase of our strategic planning process online. Your voice is as important as ever as we prioritize the feedback submitted by families, students, staff and the greater community.

Earlier this spring, we held multiple large and small group events to gather suggestions for ways we can improve at Richfield Public Schools. Combined with online submissions, we received more than 1,000 suggestions from almost 500 people! Our team has read each and every suggestion and grouped them into themes. Each theme includes multiple suggestions for how to accomplish an overarching goal.

For example, if we received the following three comments:

  1. Do a better job marketing and promoting games and theater performances.
  2. I want a greater representation from staff at games and student events.
  3. Please provide transportation to/from student events.

We would pull all those suggestions into one theme/goal: Increase attendance at games and performances.

What we are asking you to do next is to review the themes and rank them by order of importance. To make it easier, we sorted them into the following categories and you can sort the themes within each subgroup.

  • Academics
  • Activities
  • Climate and Culture
  • Business and Operations
  • Communication and Marketing
  • Other

To rank the items, simply drag and drop them into your preferred order. It works on your computer with a mouse or on your smartphone/tablet with your finger. Reading through and sorting the themes should take approximately 10-15 minutes. The survey is in English and Spanish. Use the drop-down menu at the top to select your language preference.

Rank Your Priorities Now

We very much appreciate your engagement in the strategic planning process - whether you have been part of it from the beginning or this is your first time providing input - thank you!

Please complete the survey by May 15, 2020.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Steven Unowsky

As of February 26, we have received 846 comments from 424 people on our 2020-25 strategic plan. This includes attendees at the January 14 and February 10 community engagement sessions, as well as people who have completed the online form. We have grouped the comments into themes and summarized them here.

The first two large-scale community engagement sessions focused on what residents, families and other stakeholders think about Richfield Public Schools and where they want to see the district head over the next five years. If you missed the meetings, you can still submit your feedback online.
