Richfield Hires New Assistant Superintendent, Bondo Nyembwe

Dear Richfield Community,

I am pleased to share that Mr. Bondo Nyembwe has been selected as the next Assistant Superintendent of Richfield Public Schools.

Mr. Nyembwe joins us from Columbia Heights Public Schools, where he currently serves as Assistant Superintendent. In that role, he has supported districtwide leadership efforts focused on academic achievement, operational excellence and student-centered decision-making. He brings extensive experience in educational leadership and collaborative strategic planning. Before his work in Columbia Heights, Mr. Nyembwe served in a variety of leadership roles that strengthened teaching and learning while building strong partnerships with staff, students and families. He is also multilingual, and speaks French, English, Spanish and Kiswahili.

“It is a privilege to serve as Assistant Superintendent in a district that values care, equity, collaboration and continuous improvement,” shared Mr. Nyembwe. “My leadership approach is grounded in service – supporting educators so they can do their best work on behalf of students. I am excited to join the RPS team and to contribute to a culture where every student can learn, grow and excel.”

Mr. Nyembwe will begin his role on July 1. His arrival comes at an important time for our district as we finalize our 2026-31 Strategic Plan. We look forward to the leadership, insight and collaborative spirit he will bring as we begin the next chapter and shape the next five years of our district’s work together.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Mr. Nyembwe to Richfield Public Schools.

Sincerely,
Superintendent Steven Unowsky
