In-Person Learning for Elementary Students

Greetings Richfield Families,

As you know, with the falling COVID-19 case rates in our community, we have been moving towards more in-person instruction across the District. In our recent update, we talked about our planned expansion of our secondary hybrid program after spring break. Now we would like to share with you the plan to expand our in-person program for elementary students.

Starting on Wednesday, March 17, all elementary students who have been on a waitlist for hybrid/in-person learning will be able to attend school five days per week. 

The timing of this transition aligns with the new trimester and, as previously communicated, students can transition to/from distance learning at term breaks if space allows. Each of our elementary schools has been maintaining a waitlist of families interested in transitioning to the hybrid/in-person model. With this change, we will now be able to transition all of these students into the in-person program, while still maintaining a full distance learning program for interested students and families. This is our final transition for elementary programming this school year.

To allow teachers time to prepare for the transition and to update class rosters, Monday, March 15, and Tuesday, March 16, will be No School days for our elementary schools.

If you have been on a waitlist for hybrid/in-person openings, you can expect to be contacted by your child’s school by the end of the week. Your school will also be following up with specific details related to this expansion. If you are not currently on a waitlist and you would like your child to transition to the in-person program, please contact your school office as soon as possible.
