Winter Fashion Show Details

Centennial Elementary School will host a Winter Fashion Show for students to show off their favorite and fashionable cold-weather hats, gloves, scarves and coats in celebration of Minnesota’s famously frigid climate.

As students arrive at school, they will be greeted by a “fashion photographer” to capture photos of their chic winter looks or their favorite outfit underneath their winter coat. These photos will be a combination of portraits and group shots and will be shared with students, families and the community after the event.

This event will coincide with Winter Walking Day, an event to encourage families to try getting physical activity on the way to or from school in the cold weather months. This is a program of the Richfield Public Schools Safe Routes to School department.

Who: Students and Staff of Centennial Elementary School
When: Friday, February 26 from 7:00-7:30+ a.m.
Where: Centennial Elementary School

Is your child in Distance Learning? That's okay! They can participate in the Winter Fashion Show from home, too. Just send a picture of your child in their favorite and most fashionable cold-weather gear to socialmedia@rpsmn.org by 4:00 on Friday, Feb. 26, and their picture will be included with the rest of the photos!

We encourage you to try taking a stroll at home or on the way to school—we think it will be fun and refreshing. Let’s all bundle up and walk together on February 26!

Tips for a safe and comfortable winter walk:

  • Check the forecast and avoid days that are too cold, windy, or snowy.
  • Dress in layers to help regulate your body’s temperature.
  • Keep your toes warm by wearing winter boots and warm socks.
  • Take your time and enjoy a leisurely pace.
  • Use sidewalks and trails when you can.
  • Wear hats and mittens to keep your head and hands warm.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking water before and after your walk to school.
  • Use sidewalks and trails when you can.
